Michael Andrews - 25 Years in the AV Industry

It is 1987.  In the US, a gallon of gas goes to a high of 89 cents per gallon and with that you decide to go with the new Honda Civic for $6,195 rather than the Pontiac Grand Am for $10,269.

Lethal Weapon (1) is the hot new movie while on the radio Whitney’s newest release “Who Loves Me” has you dancing.  A new television network, Fox Broadcasting, debuts with “The Simpsons”.

In world news, Margaret Thatcher is elected Prime Minister of Britain for the third time while Ronald Reagan is humming along in his second term as US President.

Technology geeks are thinking about giving up their 1983 Motorola DynaTAC 8000 cell phones but the original cost of $3995.00 holds economic loyalty with some.

And on Eleventh Avenue in New York City, one of these geeks (Michael) starts a store specializing in selling 3M Umatic ¾” Cassettes along with the occasional rental of small playback systems.

When a rental client requests that a technician be sent to operate the gear for the run of the show, Mike says yes.  And the rest, as they say, is history.

Michael Andrews is happily beginning it’s 25th Year in business (a few blocks north of it’s original location) and despite the challenges of growing a business, Michael Andrews stands as a premier Manhattan-based organization, supplying full service technical-production capabilities and a broad range of equipment services to a wide array of clients.

And on a personal note, we are deeply appreciative of the loyalty of our clients and look forward to supporting these business friends for years to come.
